MONUMENTS TO RUSSIAN GLORY

        The main event, which is imprinted in monuments of Russian glory reached our time, concerns the victory of Russian people in War with Napoleon Army in 1812-1814 years:

The triumphal Arch of the Main staff building is devoted to this victory. The majestic arch is decorated with imitations of Russian armour and flying Glories, and topped with Victory driving a six-horse chariot. It is of bright example of high classicism. On its greatness and combination of the architectural forms with the sculpture the arch is one of masterpieces of world architecture.

The Аlexander Column is also installed in memory of this victory. Column is crowned with a figure of the angel (personification of the piece) with a cross in his hand, trampling on the snake (symbol of a defeated enemy).

The following War memorial, pantheon of Russian glory is the Kazan Cathedral.
Under its vaults in August, 1812 solemn public prayer was served, after which the Field- Marshal М.I.Кutusov departed to the acting army. There were brought the numerous trophies of Domestic War, including keys of European cities which were handed over to Russian Army, seized banners and standards.
In 1837 before the cathedral the monuments to eminent commanders М.Кutusov and М.Barkly de Tolli were installed.

Among other monuments "migrating" obelisk is of interest. It iscreated to the memory of victories of Russian army under the leader of the eminent commander Peter Rumiantsev in Russian-Turkish war in 1770.
The marble pedestal with step base is decorated with relieves, the short record "To Rumiantsov victories" is on the front of the pedestal.
Originally obelisk was installed on the Tsaritsyn Meadow, nowadays the Field of Mars.
At present time it is installed in specially for it created Rumiantsev garden in front of the First Caded Corps, where Rumiantsev had received his military training.
In front of the Troitsky bridge the monument to generalissimo A.Suvorov was installed, allegorical image of which is represented as a god of war Mars.
